In essance, a script is a combination of commands and events put together to give mIRC the feel and the usablilty you want it. Scripts come in all shapes and sizes. Some are extremely complex combining both channel administration routines, as well as fun things (such as fortune telling and the mysteries of the 8 ball!), where as a smiple script could be as little as *ONE* command.

To start you off, we'll teach you some of the terminolgy used when making scripts. If you've been anywhere near a scripting channel, things people say just wont make any sense at all... They'll be sprouting phrases such as 'remotes' and 'aliases' and 'ctcp', amongst other strange things. Here is a small list of terms frequently used in the remainder of this FAQ.

Alias The term used for a self-written command. Generally a list of *other* commands strung together to give the required result. (eg. "alias aw away $1" allows you to type "/aw because i'm not here" instead of typing "/away becuase i'm not here".)
